CITY COURT JUSTICE E. JEANNETTE OGDEN TO RECEIVE CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
AWARD FROM BUFFALO BILLS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AT MONDAY QB CLUB LUNCHEON

Edgerson, announced today that Buffalo City Court Justice, E. Jeannette
Ogden has been selected as the 2010 recipient of the distinguished
Buffalo Bills Alumni “Citizen of the Year” Award. Mr. Edgerson will
present the 4th Annual Citizen of the Year Award to Judge Ogden at the
Monday Quarterback Club luncheon held on Monday, December 13, 2010, at
the Harbor Club in HSBC Arena in downtown Buffalo. The luncheon begins
at 11:30am with the program at 12:15pm.
Judge Ogden is more than a public servant. She delights in mentoring
students and has personally mentored nearly 300 students and continues
to participate as a mentor for elementary and high school students in
the Buffalo Public schools, the University at Buffalo Undergraduate and
Law Schools and the Erie Community College Criminal Justice Program.
Judge Ogden was instrumental in the establishment of the Buffalo City
Court Child Care Center, currently operated by the YWCA. The City Court
Child Care Center provides free child care services to all litigants in
Buffalo City Court.
Hard work and community service have always been important values to
Judge Ogden. She worked her way through law school as a divorced single
mom raising small children and continues her hard work ethic by
maintaining a teaching position at UB Law School, serving on the Buffalo
City Court and volunteering with the NAACP, the Black Leadership Forum,
the NYS Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics, the Racial and Gender
Fairness Committee for NY Courts, as treasurer of the NYS Association of
Women Judges, Chairperson of the American Bar association’s Therapeutic
Justice Committee and as secretary for the Erie County Bar Foundation
Board of Directors.
Past recipients of the Buffalo Bills Alumni Citizen of the Year Award
include; Bills owner, Ralph C. Wilson, Jr., Dr. Andrew Cappuccino and
Amherst Chamber of Commerce President, Colleen DiPirro. |
