Charley attended Tennessee State University.

He began his career in the NFL playing one year for both the Cleveland Browns and the Minnesota Vikings.

In 1963 he signed with the Buffalo Bills, and remained with the organization for seven seasons.

He registered 46 receptions for 736 yards and six touch- downs in his 42 career games with the Bills.

Won two consecutive AFL Championships with the Bills in 1964 and 1965.

He was named an AFL All-Star in 1965 and was also the recipient of the 1997 Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Distinguished Service Award.

Charley currently resides in Getzville, New York
and is the treasurer of the Buffalo Bills Alumni Association.
